The mediator
facilitates the process. The step by step process often looks like this:
|
|
Initial introductory meeting with
one party (or both if acceptable to each). At this
meeting there is the chance to find out if mediation is right for you, and for the
mediator to understand your concerns and what you hope to achieve. This meeting
can be very helpful in its own right, regardless of whether you decide to go on to a
joint meeting.

|
Mediation Meetings If you are discussing
children only our experience tells us
that you will probably need two or perhaps three sessions to find a mutually agreed
solution. If you are discussing finances you are likely to need three or four
sessions.
|
|
Outcomes The mediator will draw
up a summary of your discussions.
Agreements are made in around 75% of cases.

Reviewing arrangements You may
wish to schedule a review meeting to see
how arrangements are working out
