Children In Mediation

Children In Mediation

Parenting is always challenging: it can be even more challenging when you live apart from the other parent. Mediation helps you think through how you can best support your children and enables you to keep them out of any conflict.

You can discuss parenting plans, explanations to children, managing handovers, communication channels, contact with school and any other issues that concern you. The mediator will help keep the conversation on track, enabling you think through all the options before deciding what is best. At the end of the process the mediator can provide you with a summary of your parenting decisions.

During the mediation process, if you wish, Oxfordshire Family Mediation can give children and young people a chance to express their views and hopes to the mediator, without giving them responsibility for making the decisions.  Children like to be informed and they appreciate having their view and opinions heard.  Many children have practical suggestions to make.

The children’s ideas and views can then form part of the picture when parents are deciding how best to make plans for everyone in future.
