Walking On Eggshells

Walking On Eggshells

Walking On Eggshells helps children and young people become aware of, and talk about, issues that families who separated and divorced may experience.

Children and young people use drama and dance to give an opportunity to discover ways of coping with family breakdown and find out about support systems available.

Most of all, Walking On Eggshells overcomes the taboo which surrounds separation—for parents, children and teachers.

Designed and performed by Young People for Young People

Young people design and perform Walking on Eggshells.  They learn what it means to own a project, create content, perform, facilitate workshops and support their peers.

This approach opens doors for children and young people through

  • Creating space to see the reality of separating and divorce.
  • Providing children and young people with the words and language to express the feelings they/ their friends may experience
  • Allowing them to share common experience and learn from their peers.

Talking about issues with their peers means children realise that family breakdown is not as unusual as they think. It ensures they know support is available for them at a time when they can feel alone.
