Children's Voice

Children’s Voice
putting children at the centre, not in the middle

Our Children’s Voice service is designed to give children and young people aged 6-18 a safe space in which to explore their feelings surrounding their parents’ separation or divorce.

Grounded in an inclusive and holistic approach to families, which puts children at the center and not in the middle, OFM first connects with parents by offering an introductory meeting to the service (separately if required), which is an opportunity to cover any concerns relating to their child/ren and consider advice and support for the whole family where possible.

We see parents first to ensure that the service is right for the young person . The meetings cost £35. If appropriate we are then able to offer up to four sessions at a nominal charge of £10 per session, for children with a specialist Support Worker, where they can talk about their feelings and any changes within their family – such as the addition of new step-parents, difficulties with divided parental contact, or struggles with school as a result of their situation at home.

Our Support Workers employ creative and therapeutic techniques to encourage children to use the space as they wish, and to development positive coping mechanisms going forward. This can include art, sand play, puppet work, therapeutic story telling, calm down kits, breathing exercises and more. All activities are tailored to each individual client, based on their age, likes, interests and specific concerns.

We offer sessions at locations across Oxfordshire and can see children during or after school hours.

Children's Voice Feedback

Children’s Voice continues to receive excellent feedback from those who have accessed the service:

"I found it helpful having an independent person to talk to with no family connections" (anonymous Children's Voice client)

“I was able to talk about things I wouldn’t usually be comfortable talking about” (anonymous Children's Voice client)

We have also received 100% positive feedback to date from the parents who have connected with Children's Voice:

“From the first phone call, I felt supported by the service” (Parent of a Children’s Voice client)

“Thank you for the access to Children's Voice - it is an amazing service that you provide. I am so grateful that my daughter was able to open up and talk in a safe environment and use the strategies to deal with her anger and put things in perspective for herself. I would not have been able to afford this service on my own - so thank you.” (Parent of a Children’s Voice client)

Important Information

OFM’s inclusive and holistic approach to families puts young people at the center, not in the middle. For young people under the age of 16, we must receive consent from both parents before their child can access the service.

In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to offer the service with the consent and involvement of only one parent. For more information about parental consent and participation in the service, please visit our FAQs page or contact OFM on 0844 847 6658 or via email.

Please note - all sessions are treated confidentially, except in the event that safeguarding issues arise.
